This has been one of the best school openings that I can remember. Although the temperatures continue to soar throughout the first month, the enthusiasm and the excitement of everyone being reunited out did the weather. As a school community, we were thrilled to welcome the Class of 2012 as they became an official part of our Rain Family. Seeing many new eager faces in the hallway each morning from students and staff alike allowed us all to embrace our new opportunities for learning. We started last year equipping our classrooms for the 21st century classroom. We have continued to equip other classrooms for the 21st century. It is our goal to have all classrooms equipped with the essential equipment by the end of the 3rd quarter. This has allowed our teachers to challenge themselves and students more. Also, this has lead to a higher level of learning. We all at Rain are moving toward a new level in which we have high expectations for all students to exhibit an excellent caliber of work in all productions. The athletic teams have been in action throughout August and September. Our music, art and dance programs are in full swing. If your child has not been involved in an activity at school, please encourage them to do so immediately! Now is the time for students, parents and teachers to make a difference everyday in our educational community. We made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) again this year. Strides are being made to meet this hurdle again in the current year. Your support is needed. Children should be at school on time daily and in proper uniform. Please encourage the young men to put their shirt-tails in and pull their pants up. Parents and family members, please stay in touch with the school on a regular basis. Contact teachers, join the PTO and booster groups and be an active participant in our school community, and in the lives of students. This is our school. This is our community. Together, We are Rain! If you have not been on campus this year, please stop by to visit. Also, please make an effort to attend our extra curricular activities. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon!
